Bjørn Sjølyst Karlsen

For many years, Bjørn has spent hours on volunteer work, both for people in Storhaug, but he has also done work that means a lot to people throughout the country.

Throughout the 2000s, Bjørn has given a face to the child welfare children who experienced abuse and neglect in orphanages and foster homes. He was the leader of the support group, and was directly involved in Stavanger's redress scheme, which became a guideline for the entire country.

Today, he is passionate about ensuring that Rasmus Risas gate 33, formerly Waisenhuset, will be a house filled with good experiences. Bjørn has taken the initiative for, and is primarily responsible for, "Kaffi og drøs" which is a well-attended event every Tuesday from 12 noon to 2 pm. In addition to that, he is a volunteer "caretaker" and handyman who arranges a lot of practical things, receives goods, checks that things are in order, etc. He probably spends over seven hours a week on volunteer tasks at the house
